Philodendron Micans is a beautiful climbing and trailing tropical plant known for its soft, velvety, heart-shaped leaves. Its foliage displays rich shades of deep green, bronze, and burgundy that subtly change depending on the light.

Its long, flexible stems can be allowed to trail from a hanging planter or trained on a support to encourage more upright growth and larger, more developed foliage.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth, fuller foliage, and beautiful colouring. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet, as Philodendrons are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions. Avoid very dry locations and direct sources of heat.

Good to know:

Micans differs from the classic green Heartleaf Philodendron with its distinctive velvety foliage and beautiful bronze to burgundy undertones. New leaves may emerge with coppery tones before becoming darker as they mature. When allowed to climb on a support, its leaves can gradually become larger.
