Oxalis triangularis is a striking plant recognized for its triangular foliage in beautiful shades of deep purple, burgundy red, and violet. Its dramatic foliage is complemented by delicate white to pale pink flowers, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark leaves.

Under the right conditions, Oxalis can quickly become full and lush, continually producing new foliage from its underground structures.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. Some gentle morning or late-afternoon sun can encourage compact growth and flowering. Avoid intense direct sunlight.

Water:

Water when the surface of the soil begins to dry. Keep the growing medium slightly moist during active growth, but never constantly waterlogged. Reduce watering if the plant enters dormancy.

Normal to moderate humidity is suitable. Oxalis generally adapts well to typical indoor home or office conditions.

Good to know:

Oxalis has a fascinating characteristic: its leaves naturally close at night or when light levels decrease and reopen with the light. The plant may also enter dormancy and lose much of its foliage. Don’t throw it away: after a resting period, fresh new growth can emerge.
