Monstera Deliciosa is one of the most iconic tropical houseplants. It is known for its large, glossy green leaves that gradually develop beautiful natural splits and holes as the plant matures.

This vigorous tropical plant naturally has a climbing growth habit. Providing a stake or moss pole can encourage more vertical growth and help the plant develop larger, more mature foliage.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth, fuller foliage, and beautiful colouring. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet, as Philodendrons are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions. Avoid very dry locations and direct sources of heat.

Good to know:

Despite sometimes being sold under the older common name “Philodendron Monstera,” Monstera Deliciosa is not a Philodendron. It belongs to the Monstera genus. Young plants may have completely solid leaves; the characteristic splits and holes, known as fenestrations, generally develop as the plant matures under good growing conditions.
