The Swiss Cheese Monstera is a beautiful climbing and trailing tropical plant known for its naturally perforated green leaves. These distinctive holes, called fenestrations, give the foliage its unique tropical appearance. It can be grown as a trailing plant or trained on a stake or moss pole to encourage more upright growth and larger, more developed foliage.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth and attractive fenestrations. Avoid intense direct sunlight.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions.

Good to know:

The holes in the leaves are completely natural and are not signs of damage. Leaves can become larger and develop more fenestrations when the plant receives good light and is allowed to climb. Monstera adansonii generally remains smaller and has more delicate foliage than Monstera deliciosa.
