The Hoya is a fabulous plant part of the Apocynaceae family native to Asia, epiphyte in its natural habitat. It ranks among the most popular species when choosing an indoor trailing plant for home or the office.
Its long leaves develop onto tough stems, first growing upwards and then trailing down. It can also be trained to grow onto a trellis. Its spherical blooms are spectacular and very odorant. An element of choice whether you hang it or sit it in a planter to enhance your décor!
The Hoya thrives on humidity and heat, especially during summer months. Make sure it benefits from good luminosity, even direct sun. As for watering, give it a drink when its soil dries up at the first third of the pot.
When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.
Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
