The Ficus Ginseng (Ficus microcarpa) is a tree part of the Moraceae family, native to India and Sri Lanka. Just like its cousins the Ficus Benjamina and Ficus Elastica, it adores luminous spaces. Its organic silhouette is definitely an eye-catcher!

The main asset of this indoor plant is unmistakably its bonsai appearance. Its leaves are fine, pointy and soft green. It is the ideal specimen for those who wish to experiment the art of bonsai making!

MAINTENANCE

The Ficus Ginseng requires good indirect light to be happy inside, but it dislikes direct sun which can scorch its leaves. Give it a drink when the top third of its soil is dry. It may drop some leaves when it dries up too much. Check the moisture level regularly in order to establish a routine based on the season. Too much water may also lead to root rot. In that case, it may drop some leaves as well. It likes to be misted regularly, especially during the winter months.

When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.

Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
