The Fatsia Japonica, commonly called Japanese Aralia, is native to Japan and South Corea, and part of the Araliaceae family. Its broad silhouette will certainly adorn any luminous space you choose for it!

The main asset of this sought-for indoor plant is unmistakably its bright and shiny lobbed foliage. If the ambient light is not sufficient, it will tell you for its leaves will wilt and become pale.

MAINTENANCE

The Fatsia Japonica loves humidity, therefore its soil should not dry up too much on the surface between waterings. It may need a drink more frequently than most other indoor plants depending on the humidity level of the room and the season. Set it far away from direct sun, which is not suitable for it. A zone where there is bright indirect light will make it very happy, as well as regular misting.

When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.

Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
