The Chlorophytum comosum, commonly known as the Spider Plant, is a popular houseplant admired for its long, slender, cascading foliage. Depending on the variety, its leaves may be solid green or beautifully striped with white, cream, and green. Easy to care for and fast growing, it develops into a lush plant that is perfect for hanging baskets or elevated planters.

Light:

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Good lighting encourages fuller growth and helps maintain the coloration of variegated varieties. Avoid intense direct sunlight.

Water:
Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry. It prefers slightly moist soil but should never remain waterlogged. Reduce watering slightly during the winter months.

Adapts very well to normal household humidity but appreciates slightly higher humidity.

Good to know:

Spider Plants naturally produce long stems with small white flowers followed by baby plantlets. These little “spiderettes” can easily be rooted to create new plants.
