The palmier  is part of the Arecaceae family. This palm specimen is native to China, where it got its Chinese Palm surname. Interesting fact: the genus name is Greek and means needle.

The palmier growth is upright, its foliage dark green and persistent. Its palms are divided into broad segments that reach the stems. A rare element of choice for any luminous room at home or the office!

The  palm enjoys a hot and humid environment, plenty of water and very good ambient light. It will thrive being placed near a window, but it is best to keep it away from direct sunlight if set in southern or western exposition. Give your

palm a good drink when the top third of its soil is dry. If it dries up too much, the leaves will turn yellow. Check the moisture level regularly in order to establish a routine based on the season. It likes to be misted, especially during winter months.

When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.

Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
